2021 Ford Explorer Timberline is the first model of the Timberline family, a series of models within the Ford SUV lineup with enhanced offroad capability. The base Explorer was beefed up with an all new frontend and rear bumper, raised ride height and offroad suspension with capable wheels/tires. Steel skidplates spanning almost the full width of both the frontend, the rearend and the underbody were designed in close cooperation with the engineering team to protect the components in rough offroad terrain, while also becoming the main visual element of the design. Towhooks and the bumperrets are integrated into the bumper with an orange accent. Dealer installed auxillary LED’s are designed into the grill to illuminate the nighttime trails.
